I Spoke For Women's Rights and Now I Face Up to Five Years in Prison

I'm in court this week

I’m facing criminal charges that could result in a prison sentence of up to five years and I need your support. These charges stem from a speech I delivered at the Let Women Speak event in Leeds on 18 November 2023, which is publicly available on YouTube, X, Instagram, and Facebook, and a four-hour X Live Space discussion on 8 December 2023, hosted by The Famous Artist Birdy Rose, which was not recorded or archived for playback.

This ordeal began in 2020 when I ceased contact with an individual due to their threatening and abusive behaviour. I blocked him on every platform and have had no direct interaction since. I reported his actions to the police but the harassment escalated in 2023 due to my gender critical views. Since then I’ve endured persistent abuse, including malicious messages, attempts to damage my reputation and professional life, the discovery of my address, intimidation at my home, and loitering outside my property while questioning my neighbours about my personal life. I reported these incidents to the police, obtained a non-molestation order and tried to move forward, but the behaviour persisted. Despite police involvement, including the individual’s arrest and bail with conditions prohibiting contact, no further action was taken against them. Meanwhile, a non-molestation order was issued against me without my knowledge whilst the individual was on bail, and I was not given an opportunity to defend myself in court.

In December 2023, West Yorkshire Police arrested me on suspicion of harassment without fear of violence, alleging my appearance on GB News, my Let Women Speak speech, and the X Live Space discussion constituted harassment of this individual. After investigation, the police found no evidence of a crime, released me with no further action, and closed the case. Shockingly, eighteen months later, I’ve been charged with allegedly breaching a non-molestation order - an order that expired in February 2024. The authorities have provided no specific details about what I am alleged to have said that constitutes a crime.

I was shocked to learn about these charges through public posts on X and Facebook on 12 May 2025 by people I’ve never met or spoken to, who have been attacking me for my gender-critical views. These individuals used their platforms to publicise the allegations before I was officially notified, adding to the distress of the situation. When I contacted West Yorkshire Police on 13 May they denied any charges existed, yet I received a letter on 19 May confirming charges issued on 15 May. This sequence of events feels deeply unsettling and has left me questioning the fairness of the process.

I put on a brave face, but this relentless ordeal has severely strained my mental and physical health, making every day a struggle. I fear that following my plea hearing restrictive bail conditions may silence me, allowing only one false narrative to prevail. Without platforms like X and Substack my story would be buried. This case isn’t just about me - it’s about protecting free speech and ensuring the legal system isn’t misused to silence dissent. It’s also about standing up for women who speak out about their experiences of abuse, ensuring they’re protected and not punished.
